2009 DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD
Dr. Light was awarded the 2009 California Association of the Gifted (CAG) Distinguished Service Award for her experience and knowledge in the area of giftedness. This honor is given annually to those whose commitment, support and service to the health and education of the gifted individuals is exemplary. CAG acknowledged Dr. Light at their Annual Conference for her participation as a resource for the community, teachers, counselors and administrators.

“The Palomar Region proudly presents our 2009 California Association for the Gifted Distinguished Service Award to Dr. Carolyn Light. This very deserving recipient has a vast experience and knowledge in gifted education that spans more than 20 years of dedicated advocacy for the gifted person. Her passionate support, service and leadership demonstrate her strong commitment to the health and education of gifted individuals.
Carolyn is a licensed clinical psychologist, who specializes in assisting children, adolescents, and adults in assessment and identification of giftedness, personal counseling and addressing the emotional and social needs of gifted children and their parents. She has been such a valuable resource for our organization and community. When parents have requested help from us, we have confidently recommended her services to countless number of people.
Dr. Light has been a valued workshop speaker at our state conference for many years. She speaks of numerous resources for both parents and students, and assists in educating other professionals in the gifted areas. Her words have touched counselors, teachers and administrators alike. Carolyn also spoke to our California Association for the Gifted Board of Directors this year, helping us to understand the dynamics and difficulties of the gifted personality. Her thorough knowledge and insights have helped us in spreading the word of best possible learning environments for fostering gifted education.
We thank Carolyn for her tenacious, specialized advocacy of the gifted individual’s well being. We honor her compassionate commitments, and congratulate her on this meritorious award.”
